Softball Recap: Allen County-Scottsville Snags 16th Win in Last 17 Games

Allen County-Scottsville's game on Saturday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Monday. They were the clear victors by a 12-3 margin over the Glasgow Scotties. Considering the Patriots have won 19 contests by more than five runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.

Addison Ausbrooks made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She tossed 4.2 innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off two hits. Ausbrooks was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with two RBI and one double.

In other batting news, Jacie Rice was a standout: she went 2-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. That's the most runs she has posted since back in April. Another player making a difference was Payton Hopkins, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base.

Allen County-Scottsville always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .553. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Glasgow only posted an OBP of .214.

Allen County-Scottsville is on a roll lately: they've won 16 of their last 17 matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 27-4 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.0 runs on average over those games. As for Glasgow, they dropped their record down to 3-21 with the defeat, which was their tenth straight on the road.

Coming up, Allen County-Scottsville will challenge Barren County at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Patriots 3.7, the Trojans 3.9) so any runs scored will be well earned. As for Glasgow, they will square off against Edmonson County at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Wildcats will roll in looking for their fifth straight victory, something the Scotties surely won't give up without a fight.
