The Sunray Bobcats will venture away from home to face off against the West Texas Comanches at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Sunray's pitching crew has only allowed 2.7 runs per game this season, so West Texas' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
Sunray is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They were the clear victors by a 30-1 margin over White Deer two weeks ago. Considering the Bobcats have won eight games by more than six runs this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.
Parker Johnson and Daniel Collins made a big impact no matter where they played. Throwing, Johnson struck out six batters over two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits (and not a single walk). Meanwhile, Collins tossed two innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. Johnson has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances. At the plate, Johnson got on base in all three of his plate appearances with three runs, two RBI, and one double, while Collins went a perfect 2-for-2 with one run and one RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Mason Gray, who fired off two home runs, seven RBI, and four runs while going 3-for-4. Those four runs gave him a new career-high. Angel Vargas also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.
Sunray always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .723. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as White Deer only posted an OBP of .267.
West Texas' found some homefield redemption this week after a overtime loss to Sanford-Fritch on Friday. The Comanches had just enough and edged out the Eagles 10-9. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Comanches have posted since May 1, 2025.
Cash Fulton was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Fulton was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in three of his five plate appearances with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. He has become a key player for West Texas: the team is 2-1 when he posts at least two stolen bases, but 4-5 otherwise.
In other batting news, Zaden Washer was incredible, going 1-for-4 with three stolen bases and three runs. He is becoming a predictor of West Texas' success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 3-1 (and 3-5 when he doesn't). The team also got some help courtesy of Jacob Green, who went 2-for-4 with three RBI.
West Texas is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 6-6 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.5 runs on average over those games. As for Sunray, their record now sits at 8-3.
Tuesday's matchup might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Sunray has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .636. However, it's not like West Texas struggles in that department as they've averaged .466. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Everything went Sunray's way against West Texas when the teams last played back in April of 2025, as Sunray made off with a 13-1 victory. Do the Bobcats have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Comanches turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
