The Johnson City Wildcats will be playing in front of their home fans against the Ithaca Little Red at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
Last Friday, Johnson City suffered a rough 42-20 defeat at the hands of Windsor Central. While losing is never fun, Johnson City can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' New York football rankings (they are ranked 408th, while Windsor Central is ranked 134th).
Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the most dominant came from Felix Morales, who gained 156 total yards. He was no stranger to the big play, taking off on a dash that went for 54 yards. The team also got some help courtesy of Fenesse Morales, who picked up 83 receiving yards and two touchdowns.
Meanwhile, Ithaca entered their tilt with Lansing with five consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with six. Ithaca enjoyed a cozy 32-14 win over Lansing on Friday.
This is the second loss in a row for Johnson City and nudges their season record down to 2-6. Admittedly, the team was facing some tough opposition over that stretch, including 8-0 Maine-Endwell (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 88.9% over those games). As for Ithaca, their win was their third straight at home, bumping their overall record up to 6-2.
Johnson City took a serious blow against Ithaca when the teams last played back in September of 2021, falling 51-14. Will Johnson City have more luck at home instead of on the road?
