The KIPP Denver Collegiate White Tigers on the road again on Thursday and play against the Fort Lupton Bluedevils at 7:00 p.m. on January 25th. KIPP Denver Collegiate will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Colorado Rankings (they are ranked 267th, while Fort Lupton is ranked 122nd).
Last Tuesday, KIPP Denver Collegiate came up short against Arrupe Jesuit and fell 47-36.
Meanwhile, Fort Lupton came tearing into Tuesday's match with six straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 27.8 points) and they left with even more momentum. They strolled past Middle Park with points to spare, taking the game 76-60. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
Fort Lupton's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Shane Callahan led the charge by scoring 26 points along with nine assists and eight steals. Callahan is on a roll when it comes to points, as he's now scored 15 or more in the last five games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Guillaume Nkiadiambu, who dropped a double-double on 18 points and 18 rebounds.
KIPP Denver Collegiate now has a losing record at 3-4. As for Fort Lupton, they pushed their record up to 12-1 with that victory, which was their 14th straight on the road.
KIPP Denver Collegiate suffered a grim 68-46 defeat to Fort Lupton when the teams last played back in January of 2023. Thankfully for KIPP Denver Collegiate, Joey Gallegos (who scored 16 points along with seven rebounds and seven steals) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result?
