Baseball Recap: Make It Four in a Row for Seminary

Seminary entered their tilt with East Marion on Monday with three consecutive wins , and they'll enter their next game with four. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the East Marion Eagles a 10-0 shutout. Considering the Bulldogs have won six contests by more than five runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.

Blaze Bourgoyne made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He didn't allow a single earned run while striking out nine over five innings pitched. What's more, he gave up only zero earned runs, the fewest he's had since back in April of 2024. He was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs, one triple, and one RBI. That's the most runs he has posted since back in April of 2024.

In other batting news, Eric McCullum and Tucker Hux did most of the damage at the plate: McCullum scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-3, while Hux scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-2. That's the most runs Hux has posted since back in April of 2024. Jomarrion 'JoJo' Flowers also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.

Seminary always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .581. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as East Marion only posted an OBP of .263.

Seminary's win was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 7-2. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 7.5 runs. As for East Marion, they are on a four-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-3.

Looking ahead, Seminary will take on Columbia Academy at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. East Marion has already played their next game (against Enterprise), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
