The Waskom Wildcats won the last time they faced the West Rusk Raiders, and things went their way on Friday too. Waskom came out on top against West Rusk by a score of 65-54. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Waskom.
West Rusk lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Keke Murphy, who scored 17 points along with eight rebounds and four steals. Murphy hasn't dropped below two steals for 21 straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Sophia Lacy, who scored 15 points along with six steals and two blocks.
Waskom's victory bumped their record up to 9-12. As for West Rusk, they have traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost 11 of their last 14 matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-18 record this season.
Waskom will square off against Arp at 6:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Arp is coming into the match on a five-game losing streak. West Rusk won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Elysian Fields at 2:00 p.m. on January 20th. Elysian Fields is hoping to put an end to a five-game streak of away losses.
