Baseball Recap: Broadwater Academy Wins Going Away Against Northampton

Broadwater Academy won the last time they faced Northampton and things went their way on Friday too. The Vikings blew past the Yellowjackets 14-4. Considering the Vikings have won three contests by more than seven runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Eli Destro made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out ten over five innings pitched. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up a single earned run in four consecutive appearances. He was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring three runs and stealing five bases while going 1-for-3. With that strong performance, he is now averaging an impressive 1.3 stolen bases per game.

In other batting news, Aidan Fuller was a standout: he scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances. He has become a key player for Broadwater Academy: the team is 3-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 1-3-1 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Olsen Pruitt, who scored two runs and stole three bases while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

Broadwater Academy always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .588. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Northampton only posted an OBP of .417.

Broadwater Academy is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a nice bump to their 4-4-1 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.3 runs over those games. As for Northampton, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-4.

Looking ahead, Broadwater Academy will take on Chincoteague at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Northampton, they will face off against King & Queen Central at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Yellowjackets are facing the Royal Tigers at the right time seeing as the Royal Tigers are stuck on a three-game losing streak.
