The Norland Vikings's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Thursday after their seventh straight loss. They took a serious blow against Purcell Marian, falling 78-41. Norland was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 48-21.
Defeat or not, Norland got some senior leadership from Shania Swan who scored 18 points along with five assists and Jasmine Johnson who scored 16 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Myah Newton, who scored no points along with nine rebounds and five steals.
Norland's defeat was their third straight at home, which bumped their record down to 2-8. As for Purcell Marian, the win (which was their ninth in a row) raised their record to 11-1.
Norland won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Nova at 11:30 a.m. on December 29th. Hopefully Nova focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 19 on Thursday. Purcell Marian won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Doral Academy at 6:00 p.m. on December 29th. Doral Academy is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune.
