Basketball Recap: St. John Comes Up Short

St. John was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They lost to the Park River/Fordville-Lankin Aggies on the road by a 43-29 margin. The Woodchucks were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Aggies apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in January of 2024.

Despite the loss, St. John still got an impressive performance from Kennley Davis, who posted 13 points in addition to seven boards and five steals. That was a full 44.8% of St. John's points, marking the third time in a row she's put up more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Leiyla Wawryk, who earned eight points along with six rebounds and four steals.

Even though they lost, St. John smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 16 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 16 offensive boards in three consecutive matches.

St. John's defeat dropped their record down to 4-9. As for Park River/Fordville-Lankin, their victory was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 10-3.

St. John has already played their next game (against Park River), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Park River/Fordville-Lankin has also has no score uploaded for their next contest, this one against Hillsboro/Central Valley.
