The Carrizo Springs Wildcats struggled with assists on Tuesday (the Floresville Tigers had 15 more) and sadly the final score reflected it. Carrizo Springs lost to the Tigers at home by a decisive 65-46 margin. Carrizo Springs has struggled against the Tigers recently, as their matchup on Tuesday was their fourth consecutive lost matchup.
Carrizo Springs' loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Andrea Rangel, who scored ten points along with three steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Adisyn Reyes, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and 14 rebounds.
Even though they lost, Carrizo Springs smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 27 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Floresville to victory, but perhaps none more so than Jordin Johns, who scored 12 points along with six rebounds and five assists. Johns is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed three or more in the last seven games she's played. Alissa Hilario was another key contributor, scoring 11 points along with five assists and two steals.
Carrizo Springs' defeat dropped their record down to 21-12. As for Floresville, the victory was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 21-12.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Carrizo Springs will challenge the Coyotes/Lobos (for girls) at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Floresville, they will head out on the road to take on the Warhorses at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
