The Starmount Rams lost against the South Stokes Sauras back in January, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. Starmount was dealt a 70-37 defeat at the hands of South Stokes. Starmount has not had much luck with South Stokes recently, as the team's come up short the last six times they've met.
Starmount's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Corey Armstrong, who almost dropped a double-double on nine points and nine rebounds. It was the first time this season that Armstrong pulled down eight or more rebounds. Another player making a difference was Colton Allen, who scored eight points along with seven rebounds.
Starmount has been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-13 record this season. As for South Stokes, the win (which was their eighth in a row) raised their record to 21-1.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Starmount will face off against Alleghany at 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Starmount focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 17 on Friday. As for South Stokes, they will head out on the road to challenge North Stokes at 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday. South Stokes knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past eight matchups -- so hopefully North Stokes likes a good challenge.
