The Cincinnati Christian Cougars are taking a road trip to challenge the Badin Rams at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. Cincinnati Christian is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 15.6 runs per game this season.
Cincinnati Christian took a loss when they played away from home on Monday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Thursday. They put the hurt on Middletown Christian with a sharp 19-4 win. The Cougars might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six contests by 13 runs or more this season.
Jalyn Cole and Karrie Stacy made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, Cole tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Stacy pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up a single earned run in three consecutive appearances. At the plate, Cole went 1-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI, while Stacy got on base in all three of her plate appearances with two stolen bases, two runs, and one double.
In other batting news, Kaylee Glass was incredible, going 1-for-2 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base. That hit was her first of the season. Another player making a difference was Isla Robbins, who went 1-for-2 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.
Meanwhile, Badin entered their tilt with Carlisle on Sunday with three consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with four. They walked away with a 7-2 victory over the Indians.
The team relied heavily on Emily O'Brien, who fired off two home runs and three RBI while going 2-for-3. Those two home runs gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Ella Kent, who went 2-for-4 with one double and one RBI.
Cincinnati Christian's record now sits at 6-4. As for Badin, their record is now 15-1.
Monday's game might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Cincinnati Christian has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .536. However, it's not like Badin struggles in that department as they've averaged .524. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Cincinnati Christian might still be hurting after the 13-2 loss they got from Badin in their previous matchup back in April of 2018. Can the Cougars avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
