With a playoff game on the line, the Gregory-Portland Wildcats rose to the challenge on Friday. They took their match on the road with ease, bagging a 55-17 victory over Roma. Gregory-Portland might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team's won seven matchups by 22 points or more this season.
Gregory-Portland's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Gabriel Juarez, who rushed for 172 yards and two touchdowns on only five carries. Juarez was no stranger to the big play, turning on the jets for a run that went for 65 yards. Another player making a difference was Reed Dooms, who threw for 217 yards and two touchdowns on only 15 passes.
Gregory-Portland has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven games, which provided a nice bump to their 9-2 record this season. As for Roma, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 9-2.
Gregory-Portland is on the road again on Friday and play against Alamo Heights. One thing working in Alamo Heights' favor is that they have now posted big point totals every time they've taken the field this season. Roma does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
