The Del Norte Knights are on the road again on Thursday and play against the West Mesa Mustangs at 7:00 p.m. on December 21st. Both teams come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Del Norte's and Miyamura's game on Saturday was close at halftime, but Del Norte turned on the heat in the second half with 42 points. Everything went Del Norte's way against Miyamura as Del Norte made off with a 69-44 win. The victory was just what Del Norte needed coming off of a 53-30 defeat in their prior contest.
Del Norte found their leader in underclassman Francois Satchivi, who scored 22 points along with four steals. The matchup was Satchivi's seventh in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Julian Castillo, who scored 16 points along with seven rebounds and three steals.
Meanwhile, West Mesa had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 19 points), and they went ahead and made it three on Saturday. They snuck past Academy for Technology and The Classics with a 61-56 win. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Del Norte's win bumped their record up to 3-6. As for West Mesa, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five games, which provided a nice bump to their 5-2 record this season.
Del Norte won a matchup that couldn't have been any closer in their previous matchup back in December of 2022, slipping by West Mesa 63-62. Does Del Norte have another victory up their sleeve, or will West Mesa turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
