The Evergreen Cougars lost against the Douglas County Huskies back in January of 2023, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Monday. Evergreen was just a bucket shy of victory and fell 36-35 to Douglas County. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as Evergreen came into the game with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings (they are ranked 28th, while Douglas County is ranked 88th).
Despite the loss, Evergreen still got an impressive performance from Addison McEvers, who scored 16 points along with five steals. Another player making a difference was Taylor Bailey, who scored four points along with five assists.
Evergreen's loss ended a five-game streak of away wins and brought them to 7-2. As for Douglas County, the victory was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 8-4.
Evergreen will be playing at home against D'Evelyn at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. D'Evelyn is looking to tack on another W to their three-game streak on the road. Douglas County won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Vista Ridge at 7:00 p.m. on January 9th. Vista Ridge is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 60.4 points per game.
