The Decatur Seahawks and the Smyrna Eagles will round out the year against one another at 6:45 p.m. on Wednesday at. One thing working in Decatur's favor is that they have posted big point totals every time they've taken the court this season.
Decatur has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won four matches by 21 points or more this season. They were the clear victor by a 74-53 margin over Arcadia. Given Decatur's advantage in MaxPreps's basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 28th in Maryland, while Arcadia is ranked 151st in Virginia), the result on Tuesday wasn't entirely unexpected.
Decatur's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Careen Bolden led the charge by scoring 22 points along with five rebounds and three steals. That's the first time this season that Bolden scored 15 or more points. The team also got some help courtesy of Brycen Coleman, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and 22 rebounds.
Meanwhile, Smyrna entered their tilt with Caravel with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. Smyrna narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past Caravel 38-35.
Decatur's win was their 13th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 5-0. As for Smyrna, their win bumped their record up to 3-1.
