Baseball Game Preview: Roma Gladiators vs. Palmview Lobos

For the second straight game, Roma will face off against Palmview. The Gladiators will host the Lobos at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.

Roma fell victim to Palmview and their airtight pitching crew on Tuesday. They fell just short of the Lobos by a score of 2-0. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last four times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

For Palmview's part, not much got past Joseph Martinez, who gave up just a hit and racked up 11 Ks to keep Roma off the board. Martinez has been consistent recently: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in three consecutive appearances.

Palmview hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team has now struck out at least five batters in five consecutive matches.

Palmview's victory was their 18th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 16-6. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.9 runs over those games. As for Roma, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 14-10-1 record this season.
