Basketball Recap: Millbrook Now 6-2 over Last Eight Games

Millbrook extended their home winning streak to three games thanks to a huge performance from Jaliah Jackson. The Millbrook Pioneers came out on top against the James Wood Colonels by a score of 51-44 on Wednesday thanks in part to Jackson, who dropped a double-double on 24 points and 14 boards. The match was her third in a row with at least ten points.

The team also got some help courtesy of Jane Moreland, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and 13 rebounds. That's the most boards she has posted since back in January of 2024.

Several Colonels players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Maddie Shirley, who posted 13 points and three steals. Shirley has been hot for a while, having posted two or more steals the last 11 times she's played. Josie Russell was another key player, dropping a double-double on 11 points and 11 rebounds.

Millbrook is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last eight contests, which provided a nice bump to their 8-4 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 53.3 points per game. As for James Wood, their loss was their first in the region, dropping their region record down to 4-1 and their overall record down to 7-4.

Millbrook has already played their next game, a 45-34 victory against Sherando on the 17th. James Wood has also already played their next match (against Warren County), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
