Basketball Recap: Victory Christian Academy Piles Up the Points Against Calumet Christian

Victory Christian Academy won the last time they faced Calumet Christian and things went their way on Friday too. The Victory Christian Academy Lions claimed a resounding 71-42 victory over the Calumet Christian Patriots. The Lions have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won ten matchups by 20 points or more this season.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Victory Christian Academy to victory, but perhaps none more so than Gavin Whitaker, who posted 24 points. That makes it three consecutive games in which Whitaker has scored at least a third of Victory Christian Academy's points. Carter Herrold was another key player, putting up 18 points.

Despite the loss, Calumet Christian saw an underclassman step up: freshman Levi Klompien had nine points. Klompien is also on a roll when it comes to field goal percentage, as he's posted one of at least 50% in the last four games he's played. Victor Beltran also deserves some recognition as he posted his first block of the season.

Victory Christian Academy's win ended a four-game drought on the road and puts them at 16-8. As for Calumet Christian, they moved to 10-19 with that defeat, which also ended their five-game winning streak.

Victory Christian Academy wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, an 82-50 victory against Varsity Opponent on the 22nd. As for Calumet Christian, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 64-43 loss against Heritage Christian on the 22nd.
