Knox City had already proven themselves in the regular season, and didn't miss a beat now that it's playoff time. They simply couldn't be stopped on Friday as they easily beat Kress 51-6 at home. Considering Knox City has won nine matchups by more than 44 points this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
Knox City's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Tristin Baxter led the charge by rushing for 62 yards and three touchdowns on only seven carries. Another player making a difference was Devin Guillory, who gained 108 total yards and two touchdowns.
Meanwhile, Happy faced Follett in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Happy managed a 36-30 win over Follett on Friday.
Their wins bumped Knox City to 11-0 and Happy to 10-1.
