Basketball Recap: Elbert Piles Up the Points Against Deer Trail

Elbert entered their tilt with Deer Trail on Monday with two consecutive wins , and they'll enter their next game with three. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat the Deer Trail Eagles 67-24. The Bulldogs have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won nine games by 20 points or more this season.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Elbert to victory, but perhaps none more so than Caleb Cornell, who went 7-for-12 to rack up 15 points and six steals. Those six steals gave Cornell a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Eli Cornell, who shot 64% from the field en route to 16 points and three steals.

Elbert's victory bumped their record up to 16-5. As for Deer Trail, they are on a 29-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-21.

Elbert has already played their next contest, a 72-27 win against Genoa-Hugo/Karval on the 27th. As for Deer Trail, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next matchup, a 39-24 loss against Manzanola on the 27th.
