The Bishop Lynch Friars will head out on the road to challenge the Legacy Christian Academy Eagles at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Bishop Lynch has now lost eight straight, leaving the team hunting for their first win since February 28.
Bishop Lynch lost 13-1 to Prestonwood Christian on Tuesday.
Bishop Lynch saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Kylie Love, who went 1-for-2 with one double. That double was Love's first of the season.
Meanwhile, Legacy Christian Academy gave up the first runs on Thursday, but they didn't let that get them down. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 7-6 victory over Prestonwood Christian. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Eagles.
Blair Ehmer made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She struck out seven batters over six innings while giving up four earned (and two unearned) runs off six hits. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 15 consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with two RBI and one double.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Mallary Renner, who went 3-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. Maddy Bertsch was another key player, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with one home run.
Bishop Lynch's defeat dropped their record down to 5-12. As for Legacy Christian Academy, their record is now 16-8-1.
Bishop Lynch's speedy runners might be the difference in Friday's matchup. The Friars have been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 4.4 stolen bases per game. It's a different story for Legacy Christian Academy, though, as they've been averaging only 0.9 stolen bases. Will they be able to secure the bases, or will Bishop Lynch continue to outrun the ball?
Bishop Lynch suffered a grim 26-2 defeat to Legacy Christian Academy in their previous meeting on Monday. Can the Friars avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
