Baseball Recap: Orleans Takes a Loss

If Orleans was feeling good fresh off their 11-4 takedown of Crawford County on Monday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Bulldogs fell just short of the Eastern Musketeers by a score of 9-8 on Tuesday. The Bulldogs' loss signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.

Kaden Berning put in work no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. What's more, he gave up only one walk, the fewest he's had since back in April of 2024. He was even better at the plate, going 3-for-5 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. That home run was his first of the season.

In other batting news, Connor Fitzenrider made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases and three runs.

Orleans' defeat dropped their record down to 3-11. As for Eastern, their victory bumped their record up to 4-8.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Orleans will welcome Crawford County at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Bulldogs are facing the Wolfpack at the right time seeing as the Wolfpack are stuck on an 11-game losing streak. As for Eastern, they will be playing at home against Scottsburg at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Warriors' pitching crew has only allowed 2.4 runs per game this season, so the Musketeers' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
