7A District 8 recap October 8, 2013
East Bay scaled the state rankings by moving to 234 from 288 this week, the biggest jump in 7A District 8. The Indians climbed the ranks as a result of topping Plant City 19-13.
Brandon took down Middleton 32-12 last week, the largest margin of any game. Brandon Jones threw for 38 yards and ran for 121 yards during the win.
Jones was a passing and rushing force as the Eagles defeated the Tigers. Jones' favorite target this week was Gabriel Mendoza, who caught 2 passes for 38 yards.
Josh Hyde was the best receiver in the league this week as Strawberry Crest topped Durant. Hyde tallied 7 receptions for 37 yards. Clay Cullins helped Strawberry Crest's passing attack out by catching 3 balls for 36 yards.
6-foot-2 quarterback Landon Galloway of the Raiders is the league leader in passing yards this season with 628. He has also thrown 6 touchdowns. The leading receiver in the league this season is Hyde. The Strawberry Crest star has 29 catches for 339 yards.
East Bay made the biggest jump in the national rankings this week, rising to 3,983 from 5,436. They were able to move up in the ranks after a 19-13 victory over Plant City last week.
