The Ellwood City Wolverine will square off against the Mohawk Area Warriors at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. Ellwood City will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each game than the last.
Ellwood City's pitching crew heads into the match hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Wednesday. Everything went their way against Beaver Falls as they made off with a 16-0 victory. The Wolverine might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won eight contests by six runs or more this season.
Jordan Keller made a big impact no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Keller was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs and one RBI.

In other batting news, Geordan Bokor was excellent, going a perfect 1-for-1 with two runs and one RBI. Those two runs gave him a new career-high. Cameron Mills was another key player, going 1-for-2 with one run, one double, and one RBI.
Ellwood City hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least four batters in five consecutive games.
Shenango hit Mohawk Area with a four-run fourth inning on Friday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Warriors fell just short of the Wildcats by a score of 6-5. While the Warriors didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Wildcats 5-0 in the first period.
Like Ellwood City, Mohawk Area also got a great game from a two-way player: Bobby Fadden. He tossed 2.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Furthermore, Fadden didn't allow a single earned run, the first time he has blanked an opponent since April 1st. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-4 with one triple and one run. He is on a roll when it comes to triples, as he's now hit at least one in each of the last three games he's played.
In other batting news, Vinny Pezzuolo made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Cash Stratton, who went 1-for-3 with one run and one double.
Ellwood City is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-4 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.0 runs on average over those games. As for Mohawk Area, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-6.
Monday's contest might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Ellwood City has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .458. However, it's not like Mohawk Area struggles in that department as they've averaged .448. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
