The regular season was a success, but the real challenge begins now, in the postseason. It will be a battle of North versus South on Friday as South square off against Northwest at 7:00 PM. South know how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past three matchups -- so hopefully Northwest like a good challenge.
South won against Shawnee Mission Northwest last Friday with 49 points, and South decided to stick to that point total again last Friday. South walked away with a 49-41 victory over Shawnee Mission Northwest. Senior Jack Roberts was the offensive standout of the match for South, as he rushed for 282 yards and 4 touchdowns.
Meanwhile, we expected Northwest to have trouble with the significantly higher-ranked Olathe North, and they did. Northwest ended up on the wrong side of a painful 42-63 walloping at Olathe North's hands. This makes it the second defeat in a row for Northwest.
South's win lifted them to 7-2 while Northwest's loss dropped them down to 1-7. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, South and Northwest will really light up the scoreboard.
