Greene County and Northeast Jones are an even 5-5 against one another since April of 2015, but likely not for long. The Wildcats will square off against the Tigers at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
If Greene County beats Northeast Jones with 11 runs on Friday, it's going to be the squad's new lucky number: they've won their past two contests with that exact score. The Wildcats put the hurt on Moss Point with a sharp 11-1 victory on Tuesday. The win was familiar territory for the Wildcats, who have now won three matchups in a row.

That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in February. She was also solid in the batter's box, scoring three runs and stealing a base while getting on base in four of her five plate appearances.
In other batting news, Erin Meadows was incredible, going 2-for-4 with two triples, four RBI, and one run. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Shanna Johnson, who scored a run while getting on base in three of her five plate appearances.
Greene County always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .615. That was just more of the same: they've now posted an OBP of .514 or higher in three consecutive games.
Meanwhile, while Northeast Jones put up plenty of runs on Thursday, the same can't be said for Quitman. The Tigers blew past the Panthers 19-0. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Tigers.
Like Greene County, Northeast Jones also got a great game from a two-way player: Kylinn Vice. She didn't allow a single earned run while striking out nine over four innings pitched. Vice was also big at the plate, scoring two runs while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances.
In other batting news, Northeast Jones let Hannah Harrison and Madison Evans run wild. Harrison scored two runs while going 1-for-2, while Evans scored four runs while getting on base in four of her five plate appearances. Evans continues to improve, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Cheerae Jones, who scored three runs while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances.
Northeast Jones' victory bumped their record up to 18-4-1. As for Greene County, their win bumped their record up to 17-7.
Friday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Greene County hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .330. However, it's not like Northeast Jones struggles in that department as they've averaged .402. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Greene County came out on top in a nail-biter against Northeast Jones when the teams last played on Friday, sneaking past 11-9. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Wildcats since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
