The Keystone Wildcats will face off against the Wellington Dukes at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Keystone is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 60.3 points per game this season.
Keystone took a loss when they played away from home on Saturday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Wednesday. They enjoyed a cozy 50-33 win over Firelands.
Vivian Cassell was her usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 19 points and 13 rebounds. She continues to improve, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played. Another player making a difference was Jayda Gaines, who posted eight points and seven boards.
Keystone smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in 21 consecutive matches.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Wellington). They blew past Clearview 62-41 on Wednesday. Winning may never get old, but the Dukes sure are getting used to it with their fourth in a row.
Keystone better keep an eye on Brooke Lehmkuhl. She was instrumental in Wellington's win, dropping a double-double on 20 points and 21 rebounds. The dominant performance gave Lehmkuhl a new career-high in boards. Kalynne Pickering was another key player, going 5 for 11 en route to 13 points and eight rebounds.
Keystone's victory was their 24th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 19-2. Those victories came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 27.8 points per game. As for Wellington, their win bumped their record up to 12-8.
This contest is shaping up to be a blowout: Keystone hasn't had any problem running up the score this season, having averaged 60.3 points per game. It's a different story for Wellington, though, as they've been averaging only 39.5 points. The only thing between Keystone and another offensive beatdown is Wellington. Will they be able to keep them contained?
Everything came up roses for Keystone against Wellington in their previous meeting back in January, as the team secured a 54-22 victory. Will Keystone repeat their success, or does Wellington have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
