The Cairo Pilots's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Wednesday after their fifth straight loss. They took a 66-53 hit to the loss column at the hands of Scott County Central.
Several Pilots players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Aaliyah Wilkerson, who scored 25 points. Wilkerson scored a full 47.2% of Cairo's points, the tenth time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Trinty Posey, who scored 16 points.
Cairo's loss dropped their record down to 5-12. As for Scott County Central, their victory bumped their record up to 5-6.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Cairo will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Elverado/Zeigler-Royalton at 10:00 a.m. on January 6, 2024. Scott County Central will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Charleston at 7:30 p.m. on January 8, 2024.
