Volleyball Recap: H&H Comes Up Short

It was a proper cat-fight when H&H duked it out with Sandy Creek on Thursday. The Bearcats fell just short of the Cougars by a score of 2-1. While the Bearcats didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Cougars 25-18 in the first set.

H&H came incredibly close to winning: the sets they lost were decided by three points or less. The final score came out to 18-25, 25-22, 28-26.

Defeat or not, H&H got some senior leadership from Jaylah Gross and Ava Hurt. Gross had 29 digs and one assist, while Hurt had 25 assists and 14 digs. Those 14 digs set a new season-high mark for Hurt.

Sandy Creek found their leader in freshman Emersyn Pohlmeier, who had 13 digs and two aces. Pohlmeier has been hot recently, having posted 12 or more digs the last four times she's played.

H&H's loss dropped their record down to 2-5. As for Sandy Creek, their win ended a nine-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 3-3.

Coming up, H&H will welcome Sutton at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Sandy Creek has already played their next matchup (against Centennial), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
