After flying high against the Winside Wildcats on Friday, the Osmond/Randolph Hawks came back down to earth. Osmond/Randolph's rough 53-31 defeat to Stuart on Saturday might stick with them for a while. Osmond/Randolph lost against Stuart in their previous head to head back in February of 2023, too, but the margin this time around was much wider than the 63-36 score last time.
Loss or not, Osmond/Randolph got some senior leadership from Hunter Buchanan who scored nine points and Brayden Shearer who scored five points.
Stuart got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Gavynn Mustin out in front who scored 14 points along with six steals. The match was Mustin's third in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Kayde Ramm, who scored 17 points along with six rebounds.
Osmond/Randolph's loss dropped their record down to 2-6. As for Stuart, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 7-3.
Osmond/Randolph and Cedar Catholic will face off at 7:45 p.m. on January 2nd without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Cedar Catholic presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Osmond/Randolph in Nebraska (Cedar Catholic is ranked 49th, while Osmond/Randolph is ranked 207th). Stuart's road trip will continue as they head out to face Boyd County at 7:30 p.m. on January 4th. Boyd County is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 50.7 points per game.
