Basketball Recap: Menaul Comes Up Short

If Menaul was feeling good fresh off their 53-6 takedown of Monte Del Sol Charter last Wednesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Menaul Panthers were just a bucket shy of victory on Tuesday and fell 56-55 to the Legacy Academy Silverbacks. While the Panthers didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Silverbacks 13-9 in the first quarter.

When it comes to explaining why Menaul lost, don't look at Kazimieras Giedraitis. Despite the final result, he went 10 of 16 on his way to 24 points in addition to five boards and three steals. That's the most points Giedraitis has posted since back in November of 2024. Brayden Chavez was another key player, going 6 for 15 en route to 16 points.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Legacy Academy to victory, but perhaps none more so than Bryant Scales, who dropped a double-double on 18 points and 14 rebounds. Scales' evening made it three games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Dallas Baca, who posted 13 points along with six steals and five assists.

Menaul's defeat dropped their record down to 9-11. As for Legacy Academy, the victory was the seventh in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 16-5.

Menaul has already played their next game (against Jemez Valley), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Legacy Academy wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, a 58-52 win against Oak Grove Classical Academy on the 6th.
