The Sandpoint Bulldogs will look to defend their home court on Monday against the Timberlake Tigers at 7:00 p.m. Both teams are coming into the game red-hot, with Sandpoint sitting on four straight wins and Timberlake on five.
Last Friday, Sandpoint was able to grind out a solid victory over Lakeland, taking the game 49-41. Given Sandpoint's advantage in MaxPreps' Idaho basketball rankings (they are ranked sixth, while Lakeland is ranked 47th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Karlie Banks was her usual excellent self, scoring 33 points along with nine rebounds and three steals. That makes it three consecutive games in which she has scored at least a third of Sandpoint's points. Brecken Mire was another key contributor, scoring six points along with five steals.
Meanwhile, Timberlake strolled past Bonners Ferry with points to spare on Wednesday, taking the game 51-37.
Sandpoint is on a roll lately: they've won 11 of their last 13 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 16-3 record this season. As for Timberlake, they pushed their record up to 13-3 with that win, which was their third straight at home.
Sandpoint didn't have too much breathing room in their match against Timberlake when the teams last played back in December of 2023, but they still walked away with a 58-53 win. Will Sandpoint repeat their success, or does Timberlake have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
