Ellicott proved they can win big last Tuesday (they won by 30) and on Friday they proved they can win the close ones too. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 37-35 win over the Buena Vista Demons. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Thunderhawks have posted since January 8th.
Several Demons players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Daisy Lubbers, who went 5-for-10 en route to 12 points along with eight rebounds and four blocks. Lubbers is on a roll when it comes to blocks, as she's now posted two or more in each of the last four games she's played. Another player making a difference was Bridget Dawson, who dropped a double-double with 11 points and ten boards.
Ellicott has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 16-6 record this season. Buena Vista dropped their record down to 9-13 with the loss, which was their third straight on the road.
Ellicott didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 50-46 defeat against The Vanguard School on the 1st. As for Buena Vista, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 47-25 win against Manitou Springs on the 1st.
