Baseball Recap: Pine Crest Extends Winning Streak to Three

Pine Crest extended their winning streak to three on Thursday, bumping them up to 10-8. They had just enough and edged out the Saint Andrew's Scots 5-3. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 5-4 back in February.

Brady Bushnell looked comfortable as he tossed four innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in nine consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Pine Crest's victory was truly a team effort as six different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Cole Kaplan, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double. That's the most RBI Kaplan has posted since back in February.

As for Saint Andrew's, their loss dropped their record down to 12-8-1. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat they have suffered since March 3rd.

On Saint Andrew's side, Brock Shaffer put in work while hitting and pitching. He struck out seven batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Those zero hits allowed gave Shaffer a new career-low. He was also big at the plate, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one run and one double.

Pine Crest will face off against Cardinal Gibbons at 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Saint Andrew's, they didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next matchup, a 20-0 win against Oxbridge Academy on the 10th.
