Castlewood is 0-8 against Eastside since April of 2022 but things could change on Friday. The Blue Devils will square off against the Spartans at 5:00 p.m.
Castlewood made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Twin Springs, but they still couldn't quite topple them. The Blue Devils fell just short of the Titans by a score of 3-1 on Tuesday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss the Blue Devils have suffered since May 4, 2024.
Anna Summers spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned runs on five hits and racked up six Ks.
Meanwhile, it may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but Eastside ultimately got the result they hoped for on Tuesday. They had just enough and edged out Rye Cove 6-5. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Spartans.
Braelyn Hall and Emma Sartin were major factors no matter where they played. Throwing, Hall struck out 13 batters over six innings while giving up three earned (and two unearned) runs off only two hits. Meanwhile, Sartin tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two hits in eight consecutive appearances. At the plate, Hall went 1-for-4 with three RBI, while Sartin went 1-for-4 with two runs.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Lexi Bond, who went 2-for-3 with two runs. That's the most runs she has posted since back in May of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Zoe Sartin, who went 1-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double.
Eastside kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Rye Cove only managed four hits.
Eastside's record is now 14-2. As for Castlewood, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-11.
Castlewood suffered a grim 6-0 defeat to Eastside in their previous matchup back in April. Can the Blue Devils avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
