Desert Edge had a senior duo take command as Aysja Ward scored eight points along with six rebounds and six steals and Anaira Ortiz-Reyes almost dropped a double-double on 11 points and nine steals. Ward hasn't dropped below two steals for eight straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Jitzabeth Hielo Miles, who scored eight points along with six rebounds and four steals.
Desert Edge is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last nine matches, which provided a nice bump to their 15-10 record this season. As for Verrado, their loss dropped their record down to 5-9.
Desert Edge will head out on the road to square off against the Knights at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Verrado, they will look to defend their home court on Thursday against the Tigers at 7:00 p.m. Millennium presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than the Vipers in Arizona (the Tigers are ranked 28th, while the Vipers are ranked 197th).
