The Ridge Spring-Monetta Trojans had to endure a four-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They managed a 51-47 victory over Blackville-Hilda on Tuesday. The win was just what Ridge Spring-Monetta needed coming off of a 78-58 loss in their prior contest.
Ridge Spring-Monetta's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was James Bosket, who scored 22 points. Bosket is trending in the right direction, as he's improved his point production for three games straight. The team also got some help courtesy of Tykeem Martin, who scored 14 points along with six rebounds.
When it comes to explaining why Blackville-Hilda lost, one person who can't be blamed is Jaquel Holman. Despite the final result, he scored 17 points along with eight rebounds and two steals. That's the first time this season that Holman pulled down eight or more rebounds. Another player making a difference was Arkel Thomas, who scored seven points along with four steals.
Ridge Spring-Monetta's win ended a eight-game drought on the road and puts them at 6-13. As for Blackville-Hilda, they dropped their record down to 4-10 with that loss, which was their fourth straight at home.
Ridge Spring-Monetta will take on Williston-Elko at 8:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Blackville-Hilda, they will head out on the road to challenge Wagener-Salley at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Wagener-Salley comes in still looking for their first win of the season.
