The Ropes Eagles will square off against the Gruver Greyhounds at 2:00 p.m. on Friday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Ropes is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Friday. They never let Farwell get on the board and left with a 67-0 victory. The win was familiar territory for the Eagles, who have now won ten games in a row.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Ropes to victory, but perhaps none more so than Kade Franklin, who threw for 126 yards and three touchdowns while completing 78.6% of his passes, and also caught one score. Ryland Kieth was another key rusher, rushing for 82 yards and a pair of TDs.
Ropes' run defense was locked in: Farwell could only muster -0.1 yards per carry. The team can thank Victor Saenz for the heroic effort on defense: he. Ropes didn't have any issues in that department, having averaged 6.7.
Ropes' defense didn't let Kolson Allen, get away unscathed either: they got into the backfield for three sacks. Kaden Riker was particularly dangerous to the passing game, picking up two himself. He got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.
Meanwhile, Gruver made easy work of Wink on Friday and carried off a 40-14 victory. The final result isn't all that surprising considering the Greyhounds' considerable advantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 159th, while the Wildcats are ranked 519th).
Ropes better keep an eye on Briggs Satterfield. He was instrumental in Gruver's win, rushing for 145 yards and five scores, while also throwing for 89 yards and a pair of touchdowns. Those five rushing touchdowns gave Satterfield a new career-high. Gruver's leading receiver Mason Lankford was Satterfield's top target yet again, picking up 53 receiving yards and a pair of TDs.
Gruver didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Lankford and Satterfield.
Ropes' record now sits at 11-1. As for Gruver, their record is now 10-2.
