The Diboll Lumberjacks fought the good fight in their overtime game against the Huntington Red Devils on Tuesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They took a 60-56 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Red Devils. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
Malachai Mitchell and Latavian Forney certainly did their best on Tuesday to avoid the loss. Mitchell scored 12 points along with six steals, while Forney scored 14 points along with four steals. Mitchell hasn't dropped below three steals for seven straight games. Jadarian Kennerew was another key contributor, scoring eight points along with 11 rebounds and two steals.
Diboll's loss dropped their record down to 11-11. As for Huntington, their win bumped their record up to 10-22.
Diboll will look to defend their home court on Friday against Hemphill at 8:00 p.m. One thing working in Diboll's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last three matchups. As for Huntington, they will head out on the road to take on Woodville at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
