The Marquette Crusaders have been a dominant force so far, but they're in the middle of a mini-slump at the moment. They fell 60-48 to St. Bede on Monday. The result was an unpleasant reminder to Marquette of the 55-47 loss they experienced in the two teams' previous head-to-head fixture last Monday.
St. Bede's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Ali Bosnich led the charge by dropping a double-double on 14 points and 16 rebounds. Another player making a difference was Ashlyn Ehm, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and 16 rebounds.
Marquette's defeat ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 11-6. As for St. Bede, they have been performing well recently as they've won 15 of their last 18 matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 17-7 record this season.
Marquette will take on Midland at 6:15 p.m. on Thursday. Midland has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games. St. Bede's road trip will continue as they head out to face Putnam County at 7:30 p.m. on January 18th. Putnam County is on a four-game streak of home wins, St. Bede a seven-game streak of away wins -- so someone will have to leave a streak behind on the court.
