Morgantown is 9-1 against John Marshall since April of 2021 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Monday. The Mohigans will host the Monarchs at 5:30 p.m. Morgantown is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.1 runs per game this season.
Morgantown is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of West Virginia's top teams: Jefferson, who was ranked fifth at the time (Morgantown was ranked sixth). The Mohigans never let the Cougars get on the board and left with a 3-0 victory on Saturday.

Not much got past Lucas Shinn, who gave up just three hits to keep Jefferson off the board. Shinn also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Morgantown is undefeated when he allows at most three earned runs, but 5-6 otherwise.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Eli Boggs, who scored a run while going 1-for-2.
Meanwhile, John Marshall was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 2-1 heartbreaker at the hands of Spring Valley.
Hunter Coulter spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on five hits.
On the hitting side, John Marshall saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Mason Markonich, who went 1-for-3 with one RBI.
Morgantown's win ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 9-6. As for John Marshall, they now have a losing record of 5-6.
John Marshall's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Morgantown hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .339. It's a different story for John Marshall, though, as they've only averaged .238. Will they be able to contain Morgantown's hitters?
