The Poynette Pumas's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their third straight defeat. Their tough 57-37 loss to Lakeside Lutheran might stick with them for a while. While losing is never fun, Poynette can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Wisconsin basketball rankings (they are ranked 344th, while the Warriors are ranked 30th).
Lakeside Lutheran's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Kooper Mlsna, who scored 16 points along with two steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Wes Rahn, who scored 12 points along with seven rebounds.
Poynette has not been sharp recently as the team's lost eight of their last nine matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-10 record this season. As for Lakeside Lutheran, their victory bumped their record up to 16-2.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Poynette will face off against the Cardinals at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Lakeside Lutheran, they will head out on the road to take on the Blue Devils at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
