The Chaminade Flyers are taking a road trip to square off against the Archbishop Molloy Stanners at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. The two teams are strolling into their contests after big wins in their previous games.
Chaminade's pitching crew heads into the game hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Friday. They blew past St. Edmund Prep 11-0. The match marked the Flyers' most dominant win of the season.
Luke Bartolo looked comfortable as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out six over four innings pitched.
On the hitting side, Chaminade got a massive performance out of Danny Anicito, who went 1-for-2 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple. That triple marked the first that Anicito hit this season. TJ Bradford was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances.
Chaminade always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .630. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, Archbishop Molloy entered their tilt with Monsignor McClancy on Wednesday with two consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with three. They were the clear victors by a 6-0 margin over the Crusaders. The Stanners might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won four contests by six runs or more this season.
Chaminade is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six games. That's provided a massive bump to their 5-4 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.3 runs on average over those games. As for Archbishop Molloy, their record is now 8-3-1.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Saturday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Chaminade has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 8 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Archbishop Molloy struggles in that department as they've been averaging 8.8 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Chaminade was able to grind out a solid win over Archbishop Molloy when the teams last played back in April of 2023, winning 9-5. Will the Flyers repeat their success, or do the Stanners have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
