Basketball Recap: Lathan Fry's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Granite Hills over Hoover

After flying high against Clairemont last Friday, Granite Hills came back down to earth. The Granite Hills Eagles fell 57-47 to the Hoover Cardinals on Tuesday. The Eagles were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Cardinals apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in February of 2020.

Granite Hills' loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Lathan Fry, who dropped a double-double on ten points and 11 rebounds. Fry has been hot for a while, having posted eight or more boards the last 20 times he's played. Another player making a difference was Kris Mays, who posted 12 points.

With the defeat, Granite Hills broke their three-game winning streak and moved their record to 5-9. As for Hoover, they are on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last nine matchups, which provided a massive bump to their 7-9 record this season.

Granite Hills didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 62-41 loss against Bonita Vista on the 10th. As for Hoover, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 47-45 defeat against Patrick Henry on the 10th.
