Softball Recap: Brooks Gets the Win

While Brooks's victory against Grissom wasn't quite the blowout they won the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Brooks Lions had just enough and edged out the Grissom Tigers 7-5. The Lions haven't had any issues with the Tigers recently, as the game was their third consecutive win against them.

The team relied heavily on Faith Roberson, who scored three runs and stole three bases while going 4-for-4. She is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now stole at least one in each of the last three games she's played. Another player making a difference was Baylee Darby, who scored a run while going 2-for-3.

Brooks hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now struck out at most five strikeouts in seven consecutive games dating back to last season.

Brooks' victory bumped their record up to 2-3. As for Grissom, their defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 6-3.

Looking ahead, Brooks will take on Sparkman at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. Sparkman is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.3 runs per game this season. As for Grissom, they will face off against Falkville at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. Falkville's pitching crew has only allowed 3.3 runs per game this season, so Grissom's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
