Academy of International Studies hasn't had much luck against Prince RVT recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The Dragons will head out on the road to square off against the Falcons at 5:00 p.m. Academy of International Studies will be strutting in after a win while Prince RVT will be coming in after a defeat.
Academy of International Studies will bounce into Thursday's contest after beating Hartford Magnet Trinity College Academy, who they had gone 0-5 against in their five prior meetings. The Dragons walked away with a 3-1 victory over the Phoenix on Wednesday.
Academy of International Studies had a slow start but a hot finish: after dropping the first set, they turned around to win the next three. The match finished with set scores of 23-25, 25-20, 26-24, 25-15.

Academy of International Studies' success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Angie Zuluaga- Gonzalez led the charge by getting 23 digs. Zuluaga- Gonzalez is crushing it when it comes to digs: she's had at least 11 every time she's taken the court this season. Lisa Weinberg was another key player, getting 21 assists and four aces.
Meanwhile, Prince RVT came up short against Weaver on Tuesday and fell 3-1.
While Prince RVT had to settle for second, they sure made a game of it, scoring at least 18 points in every set they played. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-20, 18-25, 25-18, 25-18.
Prince RVT's loss dropped their record down to 13-5. As for Academy of International Studies, their win was their ninth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 13-3.
Academy of International Studies might still be hurting after the 3-0 defeat they got from Prince RVT when the teams last played back in October of 2023. Can the Dragons avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
