Sam Houston will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Texas Rankings (they are ranked 687th, while Grand Prairie is ranked 288th).
Sam Houston pushed their score all the way to 60 on Friday, but even that wasn't enough to win. Their tough 81-60 loss to Haltom might stick with them for a while. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat Sam Houston has suffered since December 15, 2023.
The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Rylan Austin, who scored 14 points along with two steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Terry Brock, who scored 14 points.
Grand Prairie posted their closest win since December 2, 2023 on Friday. They skirted past Martin 58-55. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Sam Houston has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost 11 of their last 12 matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-18 record this season. As for Grand Prairie, the win got them back to even at 13-13.
Sam Houston strolled past Grand Prairie in their previous meeting back in February of 2023 by a score of 80-62. Will Sam Houston repeat their success, or does Grand Prairie have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
