Marcellus waltzed into their match on Friday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They blew past the Bloomingdale Cardinals 17-2. The result was nothing new for the Wildcats, who have now won eight contests by seven runs or more so far this season.
Abby Tone made a splash no matter where she played. She struck out six batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits (and only one walk). She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-2 with three RBI and one run.
In other batting news, Hannah Sharp was incredible, going a perfect 2-for-2 with three runs, three RBI, and one double. That's the most runs she has posted over her last 11 games. Charlotte Cropsey was another key player, going 1-for-2 with two runs and two RBI.
Marcellus always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .667. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their OBP total in three consecutive matchups.
Marcellus pushed their record up to 9-12 with the win, which was their fourth straight at home. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 16.8 runs over those games.
