East Valley is 8-2 against Ellensburg since April of 2021 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Friday. The Red Devils will welcome the Bulldogs at 3:00 p.m. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty run totals in their previous games.
East Valley is probably headed into the contest with a chip on their shoulder considering Selah just ended the team's 11-game winning streak on Monday. They fell just short of the Vikings by a score of 12-10. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss the Red Devils have suffered against the Vikings since April 29, 2023.
Tia Ramynke was cooking despite her team's loss, going 4-for-5 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. The team also got some help courtesy of Kendall Palmateer, who went 1-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI.
Meanwhile, Ellensburg had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 11 runs) and they went ahead and made it three on Tuesday. They put the hurt on the Greyhounds with a sharp 20-9 victory. The Bulldogs might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won ten matchups by seven runs or more this season.
Emerson Morrill and Jordan Dykes did most of the damage at the plate: Morrill went 3-for-4 with three runs, three doubles, and four RBI, while Dykes went a perfect 3-for-3 with four runs, three RBI, and one double. Those three hits gave Dykes a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Sarah Stueckle, who got on base in three of her five plate appearances with two RBI and one run.
Ellensburg always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .622. They are a perfect 7-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.
Ellensburg pushed their record up to 10-5-1 with the win, which was their third straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 17.3 runs over those games. As for East Valley, their defeat dropped their record down to 13-5.
Friday's game might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. East Valley has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .521. However, it's not like Ellensburg struggles in that department as they've averaged .488. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Everything went East Valley's way against Ellensburg in their previous matchup back in May of 2024, as East Valley made off with a 10-0 win. Will the Red Devils repeat their success, or do the Bulldogs have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
